Kevin Terry

Hi! I'm Kevin. I design hardware and software products. I'm comfortable jumping around from electronics and mechanical design to firmware, software, and the web.

I've spent years building consumer and commercial products. I also founded Glowcose, an ambient light that uses color to help families with type 1 diabetes follow glucose levels in passing or at a glance.

During the day, I lead the technical development of smartIAQ. We're helping commercial spaces more intelligently improve indoor air quality and use less energy.

Outside of work, I'm usually playing and recording music, building furniture, or learning something new (lately, Rust 🦀).

Featured work

Glowcose light glowing soft teal on a bedside table, next to a lamp, a potted plant, and a bed with floral sheets and a rag doll

Glowcose

A light that turns CGM data into color, built to help bring some comfort and fun to T1D families.

2021

Render of a black smartIAQ sensor module, with a clear window showing the circuit board and sensors inside

smartIAQ

An indoor air quality sensor platform and clean air system.

2025

Exploded render of the Dust Chaser, with its clear dirt cup, filter, motor, circuit board, and molded housing parts separated

Hoover ONEPWR Dust Chaser

A hand vac that also works as an upright handle, shipped from concept to retail in under 10 months.

2019

More projects

Close-up render of the scrubber's clear detergent tank, partly filled, with the valve above the cleaning head

Cordless Handheld Scrubber

A handheld scrubber that had to fit a motor, fluid reservoir, and no-drip dispensing path into one tight package.

2019

Dark round robot vacuum passing under a sofa on a light wood floor

Robot Vacuum Object Detection

A piezo sensor in the airpath that helps a robot vacuum tell dust from Lego for pennies per unit.

2018

Wooden bar cart with angular legs and two striped shelves, holding bottles, a book, and brass cups

Furniture

Furniture I design and build by hand, mostly to get out of CAD and back into making physical things.
